12HRS of May – Albion Challenge

Albion Cycling has announced a new challange, celebrating longer days, the hope of springtime (and for the dutch people, the celebration of the opening of the terraces). The challenge is based on 12 hours of elapsed time, not riding time. As my birthday is in May, and having a “birthday-ride” the last couple of years, this looks like an excellent challenge to have an excellent day outside.

After last year “Dirty Kanzalled” nicked the idea of spending a long day out with a friend, this year it’s Albion turn so to say. Was Dirty Kanzalled all about having as much of gravel on your route, this 12hrs challenge is all about being outside for at least 12 hours.

So, with the route of last year in my mind, I started looking at the map and adding some nice Komoot highlights adding kilometer by kilometer to the route resulting to a nice 300km route, planned for the 29th of May. We’ll have some light gravelstretches trown at us which shouldn’t be a problem and add some fun to the day.

The plan is to start at around 6 in the morning and be home again before the dark and have a fun day out!
